Firmly rooted in the NWU student life, the Hopeville Residence Community is brimming with dynamic and passionate ladies. We have 220 ladies, each contributing uniquely to our shared identity as a residence community.

At Hopeville, we value and encourage each student’s unique identity and celebrate each student’s diversity. This allows us to create a shared space where lifelong bonds are forged and cherished. Sisterhood is a big part of the Hopeville Residence Community. At Hopeville, you will belong to a group of close friends who will cherish and support you in all facets of your student life.

It will inspire you to excel and be all that you can be. We believe that our success as a residence community is measured by your success as a well-balanced and happy student. Integral to this is our belief that each unique identity must be cherished, as diversity is our strength. This is reflected in our motto: “The Strength in Unity, Purpose in Diversity.” The contribution of each individual student leads to our success as a unified residence community. Amenities:

There are 220 single rooms, each of which has a bed and desk with a chair and cupboard. There is also internet connectivity.

Other facilities:

Bathrooms: There are three showers per block of 10 rooms.

Kitchens: There is one common kitchen per block of 10 rooms.

Communal laundry

Communal rec hall with:

• TV
• Pool table and darts
• WiFi

The Residences are the heartbeat of student life on the NWU Mahikeng Campus.

Residences plays an enormous part of student life. For our students, residences are the heartbeat of student life. Here's where friendships are formed and strengthened, cultural differences discovered and enjoyed. Here residents also bond in formal and informal activities and sports competitions.

The various ladies’ and men’s residences on campus are all situated within walking distance from the academic and administrative buildings.

The campus offers 16 residences all situated on the grounds of the NWU. 

Each residence is managed by a house parent, a residence officer,  together with a house committee.

All the residences are self-catering; however, students can also make use of the Cafeteria, Coffee Shop and various kiosks on campus.
 

Facilities:

The following facilities are available at the residences:

• Single & Double rooms fully furnished
• Laundries fitted with washing machines and tumble dryers
• Communal living-room areas for socializing, watching TV or just hanging out
• Kitchen (including 2 or 4-plate stoves)
• Bathroom facilities
• Internet access & Wi-Fi
• 24/7 Security to ensure the safety of the residents
