#83, Caput

Caput means "head" or "leader" in Latin and it is also a definition of every man who passes through our residence. On campus, but also in life, we stand out as leaders of society.

Caput stands for:

• Christianity
• Academic Values
• Personal Growth
• Ultimate excellence in each area
• Total Pride

These qualities are embedded in Caputters that make them stand out from other students on campus. Caputters are particularly proud of their residence. We are not only a top academic men's residence, but also do well in all other areas such as social, culture and sports. The special spirit, perseverance, and the orderly & proud way in which the Caputters run the residence make this residence one that you will want to call your home. It is an honor and a privilege to be a Caputter and we sincerely hope that all newcomers will build on the future of Caput with the same pride and in His Light.

Facilities:    

• Caput men’s residence has four corridors (Bosveldbure, Republiek van Karools, Tornados and Gramadulas).
• These corridors each have single and double rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a TV room.
• The residence also has a clubhouse, a courtyard where braais are held, a washroom and two bicycle sheds.   
• The courtyard of the residence houses four grillers (one for each corridor) and the men braai regularly.
• The annual potjiekos competition is held here, and the different corridors compete for the much sought-after potjiekos-tournament trophy.

Dear prospective Caputter

It is with great honor that I welcome you as a resident to the house of the caracal. A house built on more than just cement foundations, but rather on years of pride, brotherhood and strong tradition. This is where you will grow from a high school boy to an adult man ready to enter the world knowing that you are proud of yourself and respect othes around you.

This is where you form friends who become brothers, brothers who will be with you during good and bad times. Here, where brothers live Caput's letters every day, Christian values, academic achievement, personal growth, excellence in all areas and of course our exceptional pride. Here, where stories start, you will carry a lifetime with you.

It is with great certainty that I say that if you are part of Caput Men's Residence you will never regret it, but rather be proud of the residence and university that no one will ever be able to remove.

We look forward to sharing you with the place where the rest of your life will be called your house. Caput Men's Residence where you become the man you want to be one day.
